FESTIVAL POMLADI – Spring festival 2008
Put on your slippers, because Spring festival is moving to the heart of urban Ljubljana!
On 31st may, Slovenska street will be transformed into a living room, filled with cosy spaces for reading, workshops for children and several playgrounds for sports and other games. Various world kitchens will take care of lunch, dinner and snack.
And just so you won´t forget you are on the street, we will make graffiti and invite skaters. Breakdancers from neighbour countries will try to win the golden necklace with their breakdancing skills!
Spring festival-a living room for everybody!

Spring Festival is the first and so far the only free international multimedia festival in Ljubljana. It focuses on new artistic practices, including contemporary electronic music, visual arts, lectures, workshops, cooking and this year also sports activities. Spring Festival connects all this with street culture. The main goal of the festival is to improve the quality of free time in urban environment.
This year´s festival will last from 16th to 31st May .
The main event on Slovenska street on 31st May will feature two stages and a selection of great music and audio- visual artists.

Some highlights of the programme:

Mia Makela- SOLU will open the Festival on 16th May in the Town Museum, She will perform a live cinema act consisting of four sets of her recent works- Ramscapes I and II, Naturology and Kaamos.

SOLU will also give an intensive weekend audiovisual workshop on 17th and 18th May.

On 22nd May in Channel Zero Spring festival will host melancholic and excentric Daedelus from Ninja Tune, who will warm up our dancing feet for the main festival events with his magic box.

30 th May will be a very different club night in K4 because Sonic Wargame will present his hybrid installation- interactive performance in which everyone can create and compete with others.
Later on, Dr. Rubberfunk will give a dancefloor lecture of contemporary funk theory and practice.

The small stage on Slovenska street will host young new musical talents in the NEWCOMER.
On the main stage we will host the unpredictable five member british band Pest from Ninja Tune, the sensational group Bilk from Croatia which has been shaking festival stages with its multi- genre performance and the french audiovisual performance VDJ OOF with an intense mixture of urban rhythms and dark cinema moments. VDJ OOF had more than 200 performances in the last 2 years and he has received praise from the best musicians worldwide. His performance will conclude Slovenian- french spring.

After midnight, the Festival will move again- this time to Metelkova mesto:
Menza pri Koritu will present a more electro- acoustic sound. We wil see two slovenian groups from rx:tx label- Kleemar and Puna Syndicate. The peak of the evening will be a concert by two heroes of avantgarde electronics and krautrock: Burnt Friedman and Jaki Liebezeit.

In Channel Zero, we will prepare an experimental, analogue manner night with netherland artist Xavier van Wersch and slovenian astro space disco Djs.
And to conclude, there will be a funky breakbeat night in Gala Hala by Codeep Djs and DJ OOF.
